Meta Ads Super Burst: reserve 3 to 24 hour brand windows
On 15 October 2026, at its Brand Building Summit, Meta announced Ads Super Burst: you book a window of 3 to 24 hours on Facebook and Instagram, plan it in Reach Planner, and Meta guarantees delivery against the reach and price estimate. Category exclusivity is available, so a competitor cannot book the same window. Meta says it is moving to general availability this month in phases, without naming countries, minimums or prices. It is a brand buy, not a performance tool, and the decision it affects is how you fund launch and event moments.

What changed
Ads Super Burst is the main launch. Meta's description:
- A short, reserved window. You choose a window of 3 to 24 hours, for example around a product launch, an awards night or the first weekend of a sports season, and reach your audience "at TV-like scale" inside it.
- Category exclusivity. Available as an option. With it, no other advertiser in your category can book the same window. Meta does not define what counts as a category.
- Planned in Reach Planner. You secure inventory for your dates and get an estimate of reach and price, "with guaranteed delivery tied to those estimates".
- Rollout. "Moving to general availability this month, rolling out in phases." No countries are named.
Meta's test results, from advertisers who tried it in recent months: a median 2.9-point lift in ad recall, a 0.6-point lift in intent, and a median of 34 million people reached per flight. Meta says that was 14% of the US online adult audience in a single day, so these are US figures, and they are Meta's own test results.
The rest of the announcement
- First Impression Ads. The first ad someone sees when they open their Facebook Feed. Meta is testing it in the United States with one brand per day, and calls it an early test. No buying details are given.
- Reels Trending Ads. Ads placed straight after the most-watched Reels on Facebook and Instagram, open to all advertisers since last year. There are now 15 always-on topics, including Home & Garden and Spanish-language content, plus seasonal line-ups. Custom audience exclusions are coming later this year.
- Aggregated View Time. An alpha test that measures and optimises the total time someone spends with your brand across a week, instead of single video views. Meta's research says five seconds of attention spread across a week drove 32% more offline sales than one continuous five-second view.
Why it matters
Super Burst is Meta selling something closer to a TV spot: a fixed slot, a price estimate before you book, a delivery guarantee and the option to stop competitors booking the same window. That is new for Meta. Its standard reservation buying already offers a fixed CPM and a delivery prediction, but Meta's help page says that delivery "is not 100% guaranteed". The guarantee and the exclusivity are what change the planning conversation, because a brand team can now hold Meta to a number in a launch window.
For performance marketers, the effect is indirect but real. Meta's wording is that no other advertiser in your category can book the same window; it does not say whether competitors' ordinary auction ads are kept out too. Our view: around big moments, expect brands to reserve the windows that matter, and expect less room for your own brand activity in them if a competitor gets there first. When your own client has a launch, a sale or a live event, the budget question shifts from "how much extra do we put into Advantage+ that week" to "do we reserve the window and run performance around it". With a median flight reaching 34 million people, this looks like a buy for large brand budgets, although Meta has published no minimum.
Aggregated View Time is the item to watch. If it graduates from alpha, it changes what counts as a good video view on Meta, which affects how creative is judged alongside the engage-through attribution change.
What to do
- Open Reach Planner in your ad account and check whether Ads Super Burst appears. Access is phased, so if it is missing, ask your Meta representative when your account or market is due.
- For your next launch or event flight, get a Super Burst quote for the window and compare its CPM and guaranteed reach with your usual reservation or auction plan for the same day.
- If you take category exclusivity, ask Meta in writing how your category is defined, so you know which competitors are actually excluded.
- Plan the performance side around the window: have retargeting and conversion campaigns ready for the hours after a burst, rather than letting the brand flight and the auction campaigns compete for the same people.
- Note the big moments in your category's calendar. If a competitor can lock a window, assume they will, and decide early whether you book first or plan around it.
Still unknown
Meta names no countries, minimum spend, pricing model or booking lead time for Super Burst, and does not say whether the minimums of standard reservation apply. "Guaranteed delivery" is not defined, so it is unclear whether an under-delivered flight is refunded, extended or made good. The category exclusivity rules are not published, including whether they apply only to other Super Burst bookings or to all ads in your category. We have not seen Super Burst in an ad account; the steps above are how we would check access.
Frequently asked questions
What is Meta Ads Super Burst?
A way to book a window of 3 to 24 hours on Facebook and Instagram and reach a large audience inside it. You plan it in Reach Planner, which gives a reach and price estimate, and Meta says delivery is guaranteed against that estimate. Category exclusivity is available, so no other advertiser in your category can book the same window.
Is Ads Super Burst available in India?
Meta has not said. Its 15 October 2026 announcement says Ads Super Burst is moving to general availability this month, rolling out in phases, and names no countries. The results Meta quotes are from US advertisers. Check Reach Planner in your own ad account.
How much does Ads Super Burst cost?
Meta has not published a price or minimum. Reach Planner gives a price estimate when you plan the flight. Meta's standard reservation buying works on a fixed CPM, but Meta has not said whether Super Burst uses the same pricing or minimums.
How is Ads Super Burst different from reservation buying?
Super Burst adds a short 3 to 24 hour window, optional category exclusivity and, in Meta's words, guaranteed delivery tied to the estimate. Meta's help page for standard reservation says delivery is predictable but not 100% guaranteed. Meta has not explained what happens if a Super Burst flight under-delivers.
What are Meta First Impression Ads?
The first ad position in a person's Facebook Feed when they open the app. Meta is testing it in the United States with one brand per day. It is an early test with no buying details published.
